More on theme of simplicity

Will I find  a style that is 'me'? Maybe not. No importa!

All inspired by Pinterest.

Inspired by the simplicity

The head lacks 'depth and the eye breadth; still I am happy with m first  "retrato".
I was inspired by the simplicity of a water color on Pinterest and my upcoming trip to Melaque where I will meet these winged creatures.

A "Seagull" then:

Doodling becoming part of my daily life

At home mornings ... a wandering mind, the power of letting the mind wander without occupying itself with to do lists and goals... (Solitude).

Doodling while share meals with my mom who at this time in her life, likes to focus on eating and savouring rather than conversing.  At loss, I have turned to doodling. Too me, it is less a-social than turning to my phone, or to a book.  And the results are definitely more humorous!

Satisfaction

I spent many many minutes today attempting to apply new techniques -that did not work- and creating colours. The result is my bookmarks to date.

Learning

Today, I spent hours exploring how to create colours,  and how to create effects on water colour paintings. I looked at colour wheels, videos on how to mix colours,  colour palettes, and videos on special techniques, using rice and rubbing alcohol (neither of which I had at home), salt and plastic wrap. I tried out the salt.  I created colours; I wanted after many tries; most importantly, I had fun.

Thanksgiving

Thank you  for fish, for Melaque, for geckos, turkeys, and for learning. Today, my goal was to be able to sketch a basic turkey shape at will. I followed the gobble path on Google.

In search of paper

Today, I finally tried my sister's paper- really does make a difference. With a little bit of drama, I managed to purchase us both some better quality paper.

First and second bookmark...

Also, just for fun

More on birthday cards (cute birds) and cats!

A new cute bird to add quickly to a card:

Different ways of looking at space - one-line drawing of a cat (thinking of Princess, a cat I know).

My sister's latest version on our splotch bird creations.

Bookmarks

My sister inspired me to create bookmarks, and what better theme could there be than coffee and tea?!

Birthday card insertions

Well,.... but I spent an hour mixing colours and trying out different brush strokes and water/paint dilutions and I forgot all worries and focused and was at peace.                                                          This IS the point.

Developing creativity through persistence

So... my overlapping flowers just smudged into one mass, and I could not mix the greens I wanted, and there was little pleasing balance in my painting. I went to bed strangely - for such a seemingly inconsequential project - discouraged. I decided to sketch in my journal upside a nature scene upside down, and then sketched some little happy cartoon long-legged birds.  I felt better. Let out my creativity- vanquish the comparison and sense of not measuring up ?!  Dios mio!

This morning, I daydreamed awhile of ideas, untaught, and attempted to incorporate my own sense of balance and colour to the watercolour; I feel I stepped forward- not in the work itself, but in having fun ---letting myself fly a little.

Caramba! This is fun!

Following fancy, I experimented with creating fall colours and did a 'quick' water-colour to as part of a birthday invitation.

Fall Babies

A sister sends me her interpretation of the 'cute bird' water-colour of a couple weeks ago.  Hers reflects her. Wonderful!.

My sister is inspired by the simplicity of this design and applies it to what she sees in her garden.

This morning, the background dry, I experimented again with creating muted colours and  hope to add more petals once this one drys. Inspired by YouTube artists who offer tutorials.  Emma Lefebvre and Bette Orr

Inspired by nature; taught by YouTube artist

I walked and painted, trying out mixing media, less precise filling in of colours, mixing colours to get the tone I desire, painting a background for a painting to come.

Estoy muy satisfecha con mis dibujos.
